Brace Care

Eating with Braces
While having braces does not mean you have to change your diet dramatically, it does mean that you have to pay closer attention to the types of food that you eat.
FOODS TO AVOID INCLUDE:
Hard foods such as crusty bread, corn on the cob, raw carrots, meat on bones and tough steak.

Don't chew pens or your finger nails, or open bottles with your teeth.
You should also reduce the amount of sugar in your diet, especially between meals, as it can remain around your brace leading to decay.

Sticky or crunchy foods can pull brackets off your teeth, so it is important to avoid hard-centered chocolates, toffees, chewy sweets and lollipops.

Care of your Braces
Now that your braces are on, you will play a big role in your orthodontic treatment. YOU are the only one who can take care of your teeth everyday by keeping them clean and healthy during treatment.

Following the instructions outlined in these videos will allow the braces to do their job and treatment to progress on the prescribed schedule. All the hygiene aids mentioned are in your free brace kit given when your braces are put on. Proper dental care will take a little more time and effort but will give you the BEST results, making everything worthwhile.
